TREASURE HUNTING

When we spoke to somebody about shipwrecks, frequently this question will appear: And treasures, did you already find?

This correlation shipwreck / treasure is very accentuated not only for our attraction for the adventure, as well as for stories that we read during childhood and also for the fact that it is much more probable than the media will announce the discovery of a shipwreck where one suppose to be a fortune in gold, silver and precious stones than the arduous work developed by archeologists and technicians when researching the remains of an ship with more than 1000 years.

Who didn't hear to speak about the recovery of the treasures of the Atocha, the Central America or the Republic?

The recovery of what was lost in the sea is as old as the own shipwrecks. This rescue and conservation of removed pieces of the shipwrecks were, for a lot of times, to reuse the objects, as it is the case of the cannons (especially the ones of bronze), as well as to pick, or to recover, objects of monetary value, as the silver, gold, precious stones. Begins there the "Treasure Hunting" that today it is turned in a great market, legal and illegal, everywhere of the world, creating serious discussions between the investors and the academics as for the rescue of objects.

The great technological development that it is happening, with equipments as ROV, Side Scan Sonar, Sub Bottom Profiler and Proton Magnetometer, is allowing the search in more extensive and deep areas.

In this section I will talk about some of these rescues.
